A LETTER FROM THE FOUNDER
Come build it with us.
I ' ve spent my entire life at the drag races. Quite literally- two weeks before I was born, I was at the drag strip in my mother ' s womb, waiting patiently with her and my dad to be called to the staging lanes for the next round. And after all these years, I ' ve found that as much as we all love the cars, the competition, the speed, the sights, the sounds and the smells, it ' s the people that keep me coming back for more. This community is special and, honestly, beyond a magazine, a website, a podcast or a whole bunch of numbers and metrics, that ' s what Drag Illustrated represents. It ' s the most valuable thing we have to offer.
This community of ours is rooted in a shared passion and, perhaps most importantly, an appreciation and respect for the grind that is drag racing. This is a sport that will find new ways to break your heart and bust your bank account. But the juice? Oh, it ' s more than worth the squeeze, and that ' s what we work so hard to provide and to amplify.
A few years back, a racer and friend reached out after seeing a two-page spread of him and his daughter changing nitrous jets between rounds in Las Vegas. I ' m a terrible photographer, to be honest, but I happened to be there, felt like it was a moment and snagged the photo. He told me he ' d had the roughest season of his career and had resigned himself to packing it up, selling everything off and moving on. But when he saw that photo in the magazine, he had an immediate change of heart. It reminded him why he raced and the moments and memories it gave him, so he doubled down instead- new engine, new car for the next season.
A little validation goes a long way in drag racing, and Drag Illustrated exists to provide exactly that, in every way and across every medium we possibly can. That ' s what this has always been about: to grow and build the sport of drag racing by showcasing, celebrating and empowering the people who do it.
It started as a magazine, then evolved into a media ecosystem. Now, in my opinion, it ' s a movement. We ' re excited to have you take part.
